ACTIVITIES - A JOURNEY

Presented papers at International Conferences held on the occasion of World PC Expo held in Japan on four consecutive years.

The subjects ranged from an overview of the Software Industry in India to working with Software companies and also the concept of offshore working in India.

The Japanese companies have also been given an overview of the methodology of offshore working, budget parameters.

Seminar was held in January 1999 where detailed presentation was made on placement of Software Engineers in Japan.

Course curriculum has been devised and worked out in cooperation with senior faculty to train computer engineers in Japanese language in just 4 months. This kind of course targeted specifically for engineers is the only one of its kind.

Two delegations were brought to India comprising senior management of Japanese Software Companies and were taken around to meet engineers and visit software companies in Delhi, Bangalore and Mumbai.

Two success stories have been created to give confidence to software industries in central Japan substantial confidence, thereby opening new opportunities in central Japan region because hitherto software exports have been confined primarily to Tokyo area.

Japanese speaking engineers database has been created to track the movements of engineers and their career growth.

Mass translation facilities have been identified and geared up for undertaking mass technical translation work.


 

 


 

 
 

A group of associate companies with special sensitivity and the right profile for dealing with Japanese companies has been created with a view to provide ready response to Japanese companies interested to deal with India.

The problems relating to large scale data entry have been identified through pilot projects and a report has been created which seeks to firm up a methodology whereby such job works involving bilingual DTP work with bilingual software can be executed in India taking necessary precautions so that failure can be avoided.

A book is under process detailing the experiences of Indian companies dealing with Japan. This book seeks to highlight the differences in approach to work, business methodology, method of working and interaction between Japanese and Indian engineers.

The finer aspects of positioning Indian engineers in Japan is being taken up with the necessary authorities so that the Japanese and Indian companies are not put to any inconvenience in this regard.

On the occasion of World Software Congress, an exhibition was organized of Indian software capabilities and multi-media software and other products in Gifu prefecture of Japan and this evinced substantial interest in the media and amongst the Japanese software companies.

On the occasion of the Annual International Exhibition held in Softopia in 1998, a display of CD-ROM’s produced by Indian Software houses including on Science, Astrology, Yoga and Ayurveda was displayed.

We promoted participation from India of Software companies in the World PC Expo from 1997 and organized the corresponding International speakers forum along with attendant media publicity in the whole of Japan. A total of 4 sessions on India were organized.

From almost nil participation from India in 1997, the number of participants from India has now gone up manifold.
